The FSA feed provides the current food hygiene rating and its date, not itemized violations or a complete inspection history. It does not report health closures. Manchester health inspections, explained

How does Manchester grade restaurants?

Greater Manchester runs the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme: one number from 0 to 5, where higher is better. A 5 is very good, a 3 is generally satisfactory, and a 0 means urgent improvement is necessary. The rating blends three things the inspector judges on the day — hygienic food handling, the state of the building and equipment, and confidence in how the place is managed. The ten Greater Manchester councils each run their own inspection teams against the same national scale. The FSA publishes the rating and the date it was given, but not the specific problems found.

How many Manchester restaurants have a clean rating?

Of the 16,111 Manchester restaurants Cooked tracks, 11,804 are currently rated clean, 1,273 are mid, and 704 are cooked — about 86% of rated spots come back clean.

Where does this Manchester inspection data come from?

Directly from UK Food Standards Agency + Greater Manchester councils, published as open data through Food Hygiene Rating Scheme. Cooked preserves the source result and adds its own clean, mid or cooked comparison. These labels and list rankings are Cooked’s interpretation, not extra findings from the authority.

How often are Manchester restaurants inspected?

That varies by risk and by city policy, and a restaurant can be re-inspected sooner after a bad result. The most recent inspection in Cooked's Manchester data is dated 4 September 2026.
